About

Thirty years of building, scaling, and reshaping technology businesses.

The journey

Where It Started

I started my career as an engineer, building software and leading technical teams. Over time I moved into broader leadership roles, running delivery organisations, shaping commercial strategy, and eventually leading entire organisations. That path from engineering to boardroom gave me something unusual: the ability to understand and operate credibly in both worlds.

"The best technology leaders understand the business. The best business leaders understand the technology. The gap between the two is where most problems live."

Infinity Works

Building Something Special

The defining chapter of my career was Infinity Works. I joined when it was a small Leeds-based consultancy of around 50 people and helped build it into one of the most respected technology consultancies in the UK.

From 50 to 650 people. Four UK offices. 30% year-on-year revenue growth. £50M turnover. Private equity investment, then acquisition by a leading global consultancy, and subsequent integration.

That experience taught me everything about what it takes to scale a technology business without losing what makes it good. The operational discipline, the delivery standards, the cultural practices, the commercial rigour. And critically, how to build systems that let a business outgrow its founders' direct involvement.

"You build the team, then the team builds the business."
What came next

Reshaping Consultancies

After Infinity Works, I took on leadership roles at three more technology consultancies, each with different challenges. Repositioning service portfolios, restructuring commercial functions, building growth strategies, winning major engagements, and stabilising businesses post-acquisition. Each experience added new patterns to my understanding of what makes technology driven businesses succeed or stall.

"Every business I've worked with has taught me something different about growth. The patterns are consistent, but the context is always unique."

Why Independent?

After thirty years of building, scaling, and reshaping technology driven businesses, I've reached a point where the most valuable thing I can do is help other ambitious leaders navigate the same challenges. Not from a textbook. From experience. The mistakes I've made, the patterns I've recognised, and the hard-won insight that only comes from having done it.

Who I work with

The Right Fit

I work best with ambitious leadership teams who know they need to change but aren't sure exactly how. Typically technology-driven businesses — B2B, SaaS, consultancies — at growth inflection points. Businesses where the founders are ready to build something bigger than themselves.

I'm not the right fit for everyone, and I'm upfront about that. If you're looking for someone to rubber stamp decisions you've already made, or if your leadership team isn't genuinely open to challenge, I'm probably not the person you need. But if you want someone who'll tell you the truth, work alongside you to figure out the right path, and help you build the capability to walk it, let's talk.
